Ransomware: What It is and How to Avoid It

A day doesn’t go by without another story about ransomware. While it has crippled hospitals, police and fire departments, municipalities, pipelines and other critical infrastructure, it can attack individuals as well as organizations. We need to be on our guard—aware of the threat to ourselves and our computing networks, able to recognize the crooks’ techniques, and alert to the risks ransomware poses to us as employees and individuals. In this session, we’ll discuss what ransomware is, what to do if it happens to you, and—most importantly—tips for avoiding it in the first place.
